Code of Ethics

The Association will uphold this Code in all its dealings and expects that its members will utilise the Code of Ethics in all their dealings in the workplace.


  • Honesty, courtesy and fairness
  • Clarity and accuracy
  • Consistency and objectivity
  • Respect for information and respecting of confidentiality
  • Sensitivity to the circumstances of services and individuals and groups within them
  • Acknowledgement of the integrity of members, service users, staff and managers
  • Recognition of the interests and welfare of members, staff , managers and clients
  • Awareness of the impact of evaluation on colleagues and organisations, and of assessment on service users
  • Recognition by managers of individuals's professional development needs
  • Pro-activity in implementing non-discriminatory practice and equality of opportunity
